We've added an AJAX controlled shoutbox to the bottom of each page where the old news module was. The news module was moved to where the birthday module was at the bottom right, and the birthday module was removed.
The shoutbox auto updates every 4 seconds without requiring a page refresh and allows for the embedding of urls. It appears on every page including chat, so you can now chat while keeping up to date with shouts, if you're a shouter.
For forum specific shouts, using the old system, I have left this in place, as I know some people really like to use these, but they will no longer be displayed anywhere outside of the forum where the shout took place.
Shout statistics still show at the bottom and are the combined total shouts between forum-specific shouts and the ajax shoutbox.
We've added some enhancements to the maps for all current and future maps hosted here on this site:
The site login method has been changed, as the previous method caused some display problems on small screen sizes and also login errors in some browsers.
The new login module is located only on the home page, on the top right hand column where the latest forum posts and community updates are. That is also where the registration link is.
There is also now a login menu item that will take you to a login page. If you are already logged in it will show logout. You should use this method if you have issues using the login module. Please note that it is currently possible to be logged into the forums but not the site itself. In such cases you will have reduced site functionality, and we recommend that you login whenever you don't see the logout text in the main top navigation menu.
Any questions please post in the Support forum.
We are now accepting donations to help fund the maintenance and development of the site. We ask that those who are able to donate a few dollars here and there, and are in the financial state to do so, to please help out. Donations will help keep the site free of advertisements. Five dollars every few months is not going to hurt most people's pocket books, and the site owner puts a lot of his own time and money into running the site, and given the number of hours of enjoyment most people get out of the site, it doesn't seem like too much to ask. Nevertheless, no one is obligated to give anything, however, if the site does not have any financial assistance in the way of donations coming in, then it is a possibility some day that the site contain banner ads to help fund its server and development costs.
We've had reports of issues occurring with the latest version of firefox (I believe version 9). If you use firefox you may experience issues with certain functionality in the map. I believe there are also some issues with safari as well. Browser compatibility for a web site is an ongoing issue for web masters, and rest assured we will do our best, as our time allows, to find a solution. Until then you may wish to use another browser. Most people use Google Chrome without issue.
We've recently added a quick reply box to the site so people may post replies to existing threads without having to load a new page. It should have most if not all functionality of the regular posting screen. Any questions of issues please post on the forums.
We have implemented a shadowrun dice roller for our forums. The syntax is [srdice]xd6[/srdice] where 'x' is the size of your dice pool. It will automatically count hits and notify you of glitches and critical glitches.
The web site has been redesigned with additional features added, including a central login, community app, instant messaging and more. We welcome your comments and feedback on the new site.
